Bathroom Lighting
SDS offer a range of IP (for more details please click here) rated bathroom lights for the walls and ceilings. Making sure that you have the correct bathroom lighting is just as important as choosing the right style of soap dish or shower basket. It can enhance your bathrooms look and ambiance at the flick of a switch.
Having the correct level of protection is especially important when selecting bathroom lighting. All fixtures and fittings are required to be controlled by a pull cord, all switches that control light fittings should be outside the bathroom with fittings being suitable for us in the bathroom. Below is a brief guide to the zone ratings to help you understand what fittings can be placed where.
- Zone 0: Inside the bath or shower. Any fittings used here must be low voltage (max. 12 V) and be protected against immersion in water.
- Zone 1: Above the bath or shower to a height of 2.25m, must be minimum IP-7. Protection against vertically falling drops of water, for example condensation.
- Zone 2: This is stretched to 0.6m outside the bath or shower and above the bath or shower if over 2.25m, IP-4.
- Zone 3: Anywhere outside zones 0, 1 and 2. Where water jets are not to be used for cleaning purposes, no IP requirement. Protection against vertical direct sprays of water up to 60 degrees from vertical.
